At first, I was wondering if I would see any birds at all on this trip, just as we were wondering about plants in the Atacama desert. As you see below, there were many opportunities to see them. The sad part was that I saw more birds in places that humans made (botanical gardens, forest reserves, towns, national parks, etc.), but luckily not all.

We had also seen a Giant Hummingbird (look online). It was flitting around from flower to branch to flower at the place we stayed in Olmue, ValparaÍso.
