Eagle Creek Trail: Four years after the fire, and Nine years after our first hike there together

Four years after the now famous Eagle Creek Fire, we decided to take our second trip there for a hike, on Friday the 17th of September. It was a great, but sobering, hike. Nine years ago, we had a less than desirable hike on this same trail.  Once the trail opened back up for good, this year (it opened up in early winter, but was immediately closed due to landslides, before it opened up by late winter), we decided to check it out for ourselves.  It was much different than I remembered, and we may not return for a number of years, until it looks less burnt.  Below are my photos from our hike last week.  There is still some true beauty amongst the burned areas.

The first pic is a sketch of the trail in William Sullivan's series of Oregon trails books.  It's here for a reference.  We made it to the 4 1/2 Mile Bridge.
