Honoring my father, who, along with my mother, encouraged me to become a photographer.

Today, January 31, 2025 would have been my father's 80th birthday.  He passed on December 13, 2022.  By day, he was an engineer at Caterpillar Tractor for more than 35 year.  In his spare time, he was a mechanic and a photographer.

From a young age he encouraged me to take pictures.  He and my mom even bought me a Fisher Price 110 film camera, and I remember using it a lot when I was a child.  After I graduated college in 1998 with my Geography degree, I took a year off to work, but went back to community college to get an Associates in Photography.  My father and mother both encouraged me while I took classes.  Dad was rooting for me, and was always happy to see my photos.  Dad and I had some really good discussions over how I made the photos, and this continued until his death.

My mother passed in January of 2004, but my father and I were able to grow closer due to our love of photography.

Below are some of dad's photos that I found after going through his collection on his computer.  Most are from his time in Las Vegas, NV, since he lived there in his later years until his death.

Happy 80th dad!  I miss our talks, especially about photography. Thank you!
